Bundles Module Guide

Increase average order value by creating product bundles with automatic discounts.

Increase average order value by creating product bundles with automatic discounts.

What is the Bundles Module?

The Bundles Module helps you create product package deals - like "Buy 3, Save 20%" or "Complete Set" bundles. It automatically suggests products that go well together and applies discounts when customers buy them as a bundle.

Think of it like:

  • McDonald's "Value Meals" (burger + fries + drink)
  • "Complete the Look" in fashion stores
  • "Frequently Bought Together" on Amazon
  • Gift sets and starter kits

Why bundles work:

  • Higher order values - Customers buy more items per order (30-50% increase)
  • Better experience - Customers get curated recommendations
  • Reduced friction - One-click add multiple items
  • Clear savings - Transparent discount = more appealing

What You Can Do

With the Bundles Module, you can:

Create fixed bundles - Pre-defined product sets (e.g., "Starter Kit") ✅ AI-suggested bundles - Smart recommendations based on buying patterns ✅ Mix & match bundles - "Pick any 3 for $99" ✅ Quantity discounts - "Buy 2 get 10% off, Buy 3 get 20% off" ✅ Display on product pages - Show bundle offers automatically ✅ Track bundle performance - See which bundles sell best ✅ Customize bundle design - Match your store's look

How It Works (Simple Explanation)

Customer Experience:

  1. Views product - Looking at a water bottle
  2. Sees bundle offer - "Complete Hydration Kit: Bottle + Straw + Carrier = Save $15!"
  3. Clicks "Add Bundle" - All 3 items added to cart
  4. Gets discount - $15 off applied automatically
  5. Checks out - Saves money, gets everything needed

Behind the Scenes:

  1. You create bundle - Select products, set discount
  2. AI optimizes - Suggests best product combinations
  3. Widget displays - Shows bundle on product pages
  4. Customer adds bundle - One click adds all items
  5. Discount applies - Automatically in cart
  6. You track results - See bundle performance

Deploying the Bundles Module

Quick Start (5 Minutes)

Step 1: Deploy via AI

Add product bundles to my store

AI will ask:

  • What type of bundles? (Fixed sets, mix & match, quantity discounts, or all)
  • Where to display? (Product pages, cart page, or both)
  • Default discount type? (Percentage or fixed amount)

Step 2: Create Your First Bundle

After deployment, create a bundle:

Create a bundle: Water Bottle + Cleaning Tablets + Carrying Case for $49 (normally $65)

Step 3: Widget Goes Live

  • Bundle appears on product pages
  • Customers see "Complete the Set" offer
  • One-click adds entire bundle

Done! Your bundles are now active.

What Just Happened?

When you deploy the Bundles module:

  1. Bundle widget added - Shows on product and cart pages
  2. Dashboard created - Manage bundles at /app/bundles
  3. AI analysis started - Learns which products sell together
  4. Discount system enabled - Automatic bundle pricing

Creating Your First Bundle

Let's walk through creating different bundle types.

Type 1: Fixed Bundle (Curated Sets)

Best for: Product sets that always go together

Example: "Complete Coffee Set"

  • Coffee maker
  • Coffee beans
  • Filters
  • Mug

How to Create:

Create a fixed bundle: [list products] for $X

Or via Dashboard:

  1. Bundles → Create Bundle
  2. Select Fixed Bundle
  3. Add products:
    • Search and select each product
    • Choose variants if needed
  4. Set bundle pricing:
    • Total individual price: $127
    • Bundle price: $99
    • Savings: $28 (22% off)
  5. Customize:
    • Bundle title: "Complete Coffee Set"
    • Description: "Everything you need to brew perfect coffee!"
    • Upload bundle image (optional)
  6. Choose where to display:
    • Product pages (shows on any product in bundle)
    • Cart page (upsell opportunity)
  7. Click Create Bundle

Bundle is now live!

Type 2: AI-Suggested Bundles

Best for: Discovering what sells together

How it works:

  • AI analyzes your order history
  • Finds products frequently bought together
  • Auto-creates bundle suggestions

Enable AI Suggestions:

Enable AI bundle suggestions based on my order history

Or:

  1. Bundles → Settings → AI Suggestions
  2. Toggle ON
  3. Set minimum co-purchase frequency: 5% (products bought together 5% of time)
  4. Set minimum orders: 10 (need 10 orders with both products)
  5. Click Save

AI will create bundles automatically based on patterns.

Review AI Suggestions:

  1. Bundles → AI Suggestions tab

  2. See list of suggested bundles:

    Suggested Bundle #1:
    - Yoga Mat + Yoga Block + Resistance Band
Bought together: 47 times (12% of yoga mat orders)
    Suggested discount: 15% ($8 savings)

    [Approve] [Edit] [Dismiss]

  3. Approve bundles you like

  4. They go live immediately

Type 3: Mix & Match Bundle

Best for: "Pick any 3 for $X" deals

Example: "Pick any 3 t-shirts for $60"

How to Create:

Create mix & match bundle: Pick any 3 t-shirts for $60

Or:

  1. Bundles → Create Bundle
  2. Select Mix & Match
  3. Define pool:
    • Collection: "T-Shirts"
    • Or tag: "mix-and-match"
    • Or specific products
  4. Set rules:
    • Quantity: Customer picks 3 items
    • Price: $60 total (normally $25 each = $75)
    • Savings: $15 (20% off)
  5. Customize display
  6. Click Create

Customers can now pick any 3 qualifying items!

Type 4: Quantity Discount

Best for: Wholesale, bulk buys, "Stock up and save"

Example:

  • Buy 1: Regular price ($25)
  • Buy 2: 10% off ($45 total)
  • Buy 3+: 20% off ($60 total)

How to Create:

Create quantity discount: Buy 2 get 10% off, Buy 3+ get 20% off for [product]

Or:

  1. Bundles → Create Bundle
  2. Select Quantity Discount
  3. Choose product
  4. Set discount tiers:
    • Tier 1: Quantity 2 = 10% off
    • Tier 2: Quantity 3 = 15% off

Bundle Pricing Strategies

Strategy 1: Fixed Price Bundles

Best for: Clear, simple offers

Example:

  • Item A: $30
  • Item B: $25
  • Item C: $20
  • Bundle: $60 (save $15 = 20% off)

Pros:

  • Easy to understand
  • Clear savings
  • Works for any products

Cons:

  • May not maximize profit
  • Less flexible

Strategy 2: Percentage Discounts

Best for: Variable pricing, multiple tiers

Example:

  • Buy 2 items: 10% off bundle
  • Buy 3 items: 15% off bundle
  • Buy 4+ items: 20% off bundle

Pros:

  • Scales with quantity
  • Flexible for any products
  • Easy to maintain

Cons:

  • Savings less clear
  • Math required

Strategy 3: Free Product Bundle

Best for: High-margin add-ons

Example: "Buy water bottle, get cleaning tablets FREE! ($8 value)"

Set as:

  • Bottle: $25
  • Tablets: $8
  • Bundle: $25 (100% off tablets)

Pros:

  • Very appealing ("FREE!")
  • Good for sample/trial products
  • High perceived value

Cons:

  • Lower profit per bundle
  • Only works with cheap add-ons

Strategy 4: Tiered Value

Best for: Encouraging larger purchases

Example:

Good Deal: 2 items for $45 (5% off)
Better Deal: 3 items for $63 (10% off)
Best Deal: 4 items for $76 (20% off)

Highlight the "Best Deal" to anchor customers.

Pricing Best Practices

DO:

  • ✅ Offer meaningful savings (15-25% is standard)
  • ✅ Make math easy ($99 not $99.47)
  • ✅ Show original price + savings
  • ✅ Test different discount levels
  • ✅ Consider profit margins

DON'T:

  • ❌ Bundle just to bundle (needs value)
  • ❌ Discount too much (<10% margin)
  • ❌ Make confusing offers
  • ❌ Bundle unrelated products
  • ❌ Hide the savings

Bundle Performance Analytics

Key Metrics

Access: Bundles → Analytics

Bundle Conversion Rate:

Customers who saw bundle / Customers who bought bundle
1,000 views / 85 purchases = 8.5%

What's good: 5-10% is typical, 10%+ is excellent

Average Bundle Value:

Total bundle revenue / Total bundles sold
$4,280 / 49 bundles = $87 average

Compare to average order value to see lift.

Revenue from Bundles:

Month Bundle Revenue % of Total Revenue
January 2026 $4,280 12%
December 2025 $3,840 11%
November 2025 $3,120 9%

Rising percentage = bundles driving more sales

Top Performing Bundles:

Bundle Sales Revenue Avg Discount
Complete Coffee Set 18 $1,782 22%
Pick 3 T-Shirts 24 $1,440 20%
Yoga Starter Kit 15 $1,125 15%

Products Most Bundled:

Product Times in Bundle Bundle Revenue
Water Bottle 47 $1,175
Yoga Mat 38 $1,330
Coffee Beans 24 $ 576

Focus bundle creation on these high-performers.

A/B Testing Bundles

Test different approaches:

Test 1: Discount Amount

  • Version A: 15% off
  • Version B: 20% off
  • See which converts better

Test 2: Presentation

  • Version A: "Save $28"
  • Version B: "Save 22%"
  • Which message resonates?

Test 3: Bundle Size

  • Version A: 3-item bundle
  • Version B: 5-item bundle
  • Optimal bundle size?

Run A/B test:

A/B test the Coffee Set bundle: 15% off vs 20% off

Or:

  1. Bundles → Analytics → A/B Tests
  2. Click Create Test
  3. Select bundle
  4. Choose what to test
  5. Set duration (2-4 weeks)
  6. Click Start Test

Results show winner automatically.

Incremental Revenue

How much extra revenue from bundles?

Calculation:

Bundle revenue - Revenue if items sold separately
$4,280 bundle revenue
- $3,200 estimated individual sales (25% wouldn't have bought)
= $1,080 incremental revenue

This is your "bundle lift" - pure added value.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Bundle Not Showing on Product Page

Check:

  1. Bundle is active

    Are my bundles active?

  2. Product is in bundle

    • Bundle only shows on pages for products included
    • Verify product is actually in the bundle
  3. Display settings

    • Bundles → Settings → Display
    • Make sure product page display is ON
  4. Stock availability

    • If any bundled product is out of stock, bundle may not show
    • Settings → Display → "Hide bundles with out-of-stock items"
  5. Theme compatibility

    • Some themes need custom placement
    • Try: Reinstall bundles module

Via AI:

Why isn't my Coffee Set bundle showing on the Coffee Maker product page?

Discount Not Applying

Customer added bundle but didn't get discount.

Common causes:

  1. Didn't use "Add Bundle" button

    • Customer added items individually
    • Must use bundle button for discount
  2. Modified quantities

    • Customer changed quantity after adding
    • May break bundle discount rules
  3. Other discounts applied

    • Discount codes may conflict
    • Settings → Discounts → "Allow stacking"
  4. Bundle expired

    • Check bundle end date
    • Bundles → Find bundle → Check dates

Fix:

Check why discount isn't applying for [bundle name]

Low Bundle Conversion

People see bundles but don't buy.

Possible reasons:

  1. Discount too small

    • 5% isn't compelling
    • Try 15-25%
  2. Products don't make sense together

    • "Water bottle + Yoga mat"? Why?
    • Bundle naturally related items
  3. Too many items

    • 7-item bundle overwhelming
    • Keep to 2-4 items
  4. Price too high

    • $200 bundle = big commitment
    • Lower-priced bundles convert better
  5. Poor presentation

    • Unclear savings
    • Confusing layout
    • Fix with better copy/design

Optimization checklist:

Help me optimize my [bundle name] - conversion is low

AI Suggestions Not Working

No AI bundle suggestions appearing.

Reasons:

  1. Not enough data

    • Need at least 50-100 orders
    • AI needs patterns to learn from
  2. Products rarely bought together

    • If nothing co-purchased, no suggestions
    • Normal for very diverse catalogs
  3. Thresholds too high

    • Settings → AI → Co-purchase frequency: 5%
    • Lower to 3% for more suggestions
  4. Feature disabled

    • Settings → AI Suggestions → ON

Wait 24 hours after enabling for AI to analyze orders.
