Bundles Module Guide
Increase average order value by creating product bundles with automatic discounts.
Increase average order value by creating product bundles with automatic discounts.
What is the Bundles Module?
The Bundles Module helps you create product package deals - like "Buy 3, Save 20%" or "Complete Set" bundles. It automatically suggests products that go well together and applies discounts when customers buy them as a bundle.
Think of it like:
- McDonald's "Value Meals" (burger + fries + drink)
- "Complete the Look" in fashion stores
- "Frequently Bought Together" on Amazon
- Gift sets and starter kits
Why bundles work:
- Higher order values - Customers buy more items per order (30-50% increase)
- Better experience - Customers get curated recommendations
- Reduced friction - One-click add multiple items
- Clear savings - Transparent discount = more appealing
What You Can Do
With the Bundles Module, you can:
✅ Create fixed bundles - Pre-defined product sets (e.g., "Starter Kit") ✅ AI-suggested bundles - Smart recommendations based on buying patterns ✅ Mix & match bundles - "Pick any 3 for $99" ✅ Quantity discounts - "Buy 2 get 10% off, Buy 3 get 20% off" ✅ Display on product pages - Show bundle offers automatically ✅ Track bundle performance - See which bundles sell best ✅ Customize bundle design - Match your store's look
How It Works (Simple Explanation)
Customer Experience:
- Views product - Looking at a water bottle
- Sees bundle offer - "Complete Hydration Kit: Bottle + Straw + Carrier = Save $15!"
- Clicks "Add Bundle" - All 3 items added to cart
- Gets discount - $15 off applied automatically
- Checks out - Saves money, gets everything needed
Behind the Scenes:
- You create bundle - Select products, set discount
- AI optimizes - Suggests best product combinations
- Widget displays - Shows bundle on product pages
- Customer adds bundle - One click adds all items
- Discount applies - Automatically in cart
- You track results - See bundle performance

Bundle Pricing Strategies
Strategy 1: Fixed Price Bundles
Best for: Clear, simple offers
Example:
- Item A: $30
- Item B: $25
- Item C: $20
- Bundle: $60 (save $15 = 20% off)
Pros:
- Easy to understand
- Clear savings
- Works for any products
Cons:
- May not maximize profit
- Less flexible
Strategy 2: Percentage Discounts
Best for: Variable pricing, multiple tiers
Example:
- Buy 2 items: 10% off bundle
- Buy 3 items: 15% off bundle
- Buy 4+ items: 20% off bundle
Pros:
- Scales with quantity
- Flexible for any products
- Easy to maintain
Cons:
- Savings less clear
- Math required
Strategy 3: Free Product Bundle
Best for: High-margin add-ons
Example: "Buy water bottle, get cleaning tablets FREE! ($8 value)"
Set as:
- Bottle: $25
- Tablets: $8
- Bundle: $25 (100% off tablets)
Pros:
- Very appealing ("FREE!")
- Good for sample/trial products
- High perceived value
Cons:
- Lower profit per bundle
- Only works with cheap add-ons
Strategy 4: Tiered Value
Best for: Encouraging larger purchases
Example:
Good Deal: 2 items for $45 (5% off)
Better Deal: 3 items for $63 (10% off)
Best Deal: 4 items for $76 (20% off)
Highlight the "Best Deal" to anchor customers.
Pricing Best Practices
DO:
- ✅ Offer meaningful savings (15-25% is standard)
- ✅ Make math easy ($99 not $99.47)
- ✅ Show original price + savings
- ✅ Test different discount levels
- ✅ Consider profit margins
DON'T:
- ❌ Bundle just to bundle (needs value)
- ❌ Discount too much (<10% margin)
- ❌ Make confusing offers
- ❌ Bundle unrelated products
- ❌ Hide the savings

- Version B: "Save 22%"

- Version B: 5-item bundle

- Select bundle
- Choose what to test
- Set duration (2-4 weeks)

Incremental Revenue
How much extra revenue from bundles?
Calculation:
Bundle revenue - Revenue if items sold separately
$4,280 bundle revenue
- $3,200 estimated individual sales (25% wouldn't have bought)
= $1,080 incremental revenue
This is your "bundle lift" - pure added value.

Via AI:
Why isn't my Coffee Set bundle showing on the Coffee Maker product page?
Discount Not Applying
Customer added bundle but didn't get discount.
Common causes:
-
Didn't use "Add Bundle" button
- Customer added items individually
- Must use bundle button for discount
-
Modified quantities
- Customer changed quantity after adding
- May break bundle discount rules
-
Other discounts applied
- Discount codes may conflict
- Settings → Discounts → "Allow stacking"
-
Bundle expired
- Check bundle end date
- Bundles → Find bundle → Check dates
Fix:
Check why discount isn't applying for [bundle name]
Low Bundle Conversion
People see bundles but don't buy.
Possible reasons:
-
Discount too small
- 5% isn't compelling
- Try 15-25%
-
Products don't make sense together
- "Water bottle + Yoga mat"? Why?
- Bundle naturally related items
-
Too many items
- 7-item bundle overwhelming
- Keep to 2-4 items
-
Price too high
- $200 bundle = big commitment
- Lower-priced bundles convert better
-
Poor presentation
- Unclear savings
- Confusing layout
- Fix with better copy/design
Optimization checklist:
Help me optimize my [bundle name] - conversion is low
AI Suggestions Not Working
No AI bundle suggestions appearing.
Reasons:
-
Not enough data

- AI needs patterns to learn from
-
Products rarely bought together
- If nothing co-purchased, no suggestions
- Normal for very diverse catalogs
-
Thresholds too high
- Settings → AI → Co-purchase frequency: 5%
- Lower to 3% for more suggestions
-
Feature disabled
- Settings → AI Suggestions → ON
Wait 24 hours after enabling for AI to analyze orders.
